WAH LAO EY!

Remember when I blogged about God not wanting me to go to England?

Well.

I think God doesn't want me to leave. If today had gone as planned, I would've gotten on my plane 3 hours ago.

But. I am here happily blogging on my sister's laptop, STILL taking up parasitic residence in my aunty's home.

BLahahah. This is hilarious really.

So here's the story. Aresha checked the train to Gatwick Airport arrival times online and it supposedly said 4.50pm, and another at 5.15pm. So we rush ALL the way there thoroughly stressing out my aunty ONLY to find that the train comes ONLY at 5.43pm, and there was no bledy 4.50pm OR 5.15pm train.

We waited at the station for almost an hour for the train and despite that we would still have reached the airport on time. But NOOO.

It was roughly a twelve-stop journey which takes 1hr 10mins. But right after Sandhurst, which was about the 3rd stop, the train stopped totally in the middle of nowhere. Then the driver announces about there being a power failure up ahead and we shouldn't panic and we should be able to continue and we should be patient blahblahblah.

10, 30, 40-50 mins pass and the train starts to reverse back to Sandhurst. The driver says we can get off for 'a breath of fresh air' or a cigarette.

This is getting too long.

So anyway. The wait after that was about another 30mins before the train control people said it was safe to continue. But the train continued at the speed of a fucking snail. The latest I could check in for my flight was 830pm, and it was already 730pm, so no way I was gonna make it in time. Uncle Matt picked us up from a couple of stops after that and dropped Aresha off at another train station so she could take a train to London cause she needed to meet her DNB friends.

She's only leaving next Monday. I was supposed to leave a few hours ago but i'll be leaving sometime after 2pm on Friday, England time.

So much for wanting to study for my common tests when I get back. Haha.

firste poste from ENGLANDO!

Before I start I just wanna let everyone know that within 2 days of shopping we spent 90 pounds. Convert it to SGD and you have $270. So we are royally screwed.

We arrived here at 12pm on Sunday. After close to 20 hours on a plane inclusive of transit time, I was severely jet-lagged and exhausted. Showered, ate, then fell asleep at 5pm.

The funny thing about this country is that in summer the sun rises at about 5+am. Which is okay, but the sun sets... at 10PM. That's like the funniest shit ever.

So here I am, 47A Nine Mile Ride, near California Country Park. It's pretty ulu, 'quiet, rich man's area' as my uncle put it. It gets pitch dark when the sun sets, so its quite creepy.

The weather here's wonderful. I can wash my hair once every two days, you can wear the same pair of jeans ten times straight. But it borders on bledy freezing (well it felt like it) when the sun's covered or before and after rain. We were at Reading (pronouced REDDING) town centre and we went into one of the malls since it started raining. When I came out, EVERYONE was in sweaters and windbreakers. I felt like a retard walking around in a spaghetti strap cause the weather was quite pleasant before it started raining.

On Monday we went to Wokingham just to take a look around. It's like the Simpang Bedok of Tanah Merah, just with shops like Dorothy Perkins and stuff. The pubs here are cute and quaint but i've yet to actually enter one. Chances are I won't.

My aunt says the brits love to preserve everything remotely historical. It's kinda cute cause all the buildings around the area have extremely beautiful architecture. You'd think i'd go crazy taking pictures and all but... i've barely touched my camera really. I know, kill me now but the shopping and sight-seeing really makes it hard to take pictures at the same time.

There's a farm behind the house which has sheep and cows and horses. I can't see much cause it's blocked my a wall of trees but i'd sure love to go see them.

Me and Aresha saw the This Fashion of England. It's called Top Class but the clothes there are extremely nice, nothing like what you get in Singapore. I bought a cute tube dress for 17 pounds which actually converts to quite a lot. Apart from that I haven't spent much else cause I've been saving it for our trip to central London tomorrow. Transportation alone has eaten a chunk out of our spending money.

Lets see. It was 3 pounds to Wokingham and back for one person BY BUS. That's fucking S$9. The bus ride to Reading was 5 pounds. That's fucking S$15. WHAT THE HELL.

Our trip here is no gourmet either. To save on unnecessary expenditure, we've been packing lunches and buying super budget meals.

The people here are really nice. They tend to look at you funny for awhile, then smile and wave. When we went shopping over the past 2 days A LOT of people gave us funny looks. A lot of guys checked out my sister, no surprise there.

Speaking of guys, there are quite a few good looking guys here, no wait, actually quite a lot. Shitty thing is, once they open their mouths they have the most horrifying teeth i've ever seen. Apart from that, the guys here are MUCH better than those in Singapore.

But they cannot beat the guys from Dubai. Oh my god. Seriously la. I was ranting to Mimi about it 2 days ago, that we will go to Dubai after our A Levels to find husbands in Dubai. Cause the guys there, you can't find anywhere else! Seriously. Even English guys can't hold a candle to the ones I saw at the Dubai airport.

Aresha, on the other hand, said that she hasn't found any good looking guys yet. Not even in Dubai. But she's just fussy I guess.

Ok enough about guys. It's my 4th day here and i'll be leaving next Wednesday night, and arriving in Singapore on Friday. And I doubt i'd have studied much for my common test, hoo rah.

Ok bye.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAh.

I think right. God really doesn't want me to go to England.

My mom took out my passport just now and got a shock of her life. My passport expired 6 months ago. Wonderful. Since I haven't travelled in the last 2-3 years, I had absolutely no blinking idea.

And the worst thing is.. my mom has the fucking AUDACITY to turn around and blame me for all this! Wow. Perfect. She holds on to my passport, then she takes it out one day and OOPS ITS EXPIRED then BAM it's aruna's fault.

Even if she said it was her fault I wouldn't even feel half as angry as I do now.

So if i'm not on the plane with my sis sunday morning at 2am, my mom will MURDER me. And yet again, I don't understand how it's my fault. At this rate i'm fine with my mom going in my place, seriously.

Then I can study for my common test! Haha.

things i MUST buy for my engrand trip.

1) bag
2) jeans
3) face powder (not so important)
4) sneakers (also not so important)
5) jacket
6) stuff

And stuff I MUST do

Haircut
Manicure
Taper stupid 3/4 pants
and uhh... Dunno lah.

Yeah. The mom is pms-ing, the dad is missing in action, the sister will be landing in an hour and the new maid is deeply traumatised by the mom's pms-ing.

Even i'm not spared, albeit the fact that i'm so sick I can barely walk straight. I'm just trying to stay out of her way as much as I can without going to sleep. Blah.

I'm gonna fail my common tests. I brought my notes to pre u sem, but never got a chance to study. A day after I come back, I fall sick. Arg.

Fail lah. I'll just have to work my butt off for promos if I don't wanna get retained. Oh man this is scaring the shit out of me. I'd study now, but my head is throbbing way too much. Life sucks.

when you're tired, just don't say anything.

*bolster falls down and father wakes up*

Dad: Mmf, Aruna, Aruna....ARUNA it's 1am enough computer go and sleep.
Me: Huh what? No.
Dad: Aruna.... *schnorrreee*

The way he snores is super cartoon la. Like some animal's dying. I wonder how my mom can tahan.

Anyvhay. Pre U Sem celebration yesterday was loads of fun. Since I was having my dengdeng I didn't bring any spare clothes cause I thought I could reason with my eediot friends not to throw me into the pool.

When I arrived at 7+pm Bryan got a shock when he saw me with eyeliner on. I told him it's cause I wasn't gonna swim and he accused all the girls of lying about their time-of-the-month's. We ate pizza and chilled with cool music playing from a couple of speakers loaned to us by Mrs Koh's extremely sporting bro in law.

Then it was DUNKING TIME. God.

Zhihan was the first girl to kena cause it was her birthday. Then Sam. Then one by one, even the girls with periods were either jumping in themselves or being thrown in by the guys. I felt damn sad cause I really couldn't go in and have fun with the rest so I stood by taking pictures of everyone.

As I sat by the pool Desmond and Joshua approached me and grabbed my wrists and I reasoned with them while screaming that I really really really couldn't. The 2nd time round was Joshua chasing me aimlessly halfway around the condo. Not to mention the couple of times when Caspar was trying to fool me into holding his hand. It went something like this.

Caspar: Aruna... I'm feeling horny. Will you hold my hand?

And Jiten stupidly fell for it. But Caspar unsuccessfully tried to swing him into the pool.

Finally, as I tried to take a group picture of everyone in the pool, Zhihan (i think) grabbed one arm and Joshua yanked my camera from me, and accidentally took a picture of the inside of his hand. The rest very HAPPILY joined in and swung me into the pool on 3 counts amidst my horrified screams and laughter.

Once I was in the pool, everything was ok la. I was the last girl to be thrown in but I didn't miss out on much. Had random races, played catching, splashed water at each other and floated around aimlessly in the pool in lifeguard floats. Fully clothed.

We had a cake for Zhihan and Bryan, drank some fake champagne, danced and took photos randomly. But by 10++ we had to clear out cause the residents were complaining. So a few of us went to ECP!

We had ice cream at gelare and I bought a pair of shorts to change cause I was thoroughly soaked and freezing. Joshua later brought a change of clothes for me, Jiten and... I'll just call him Ian. Haha. Easier.

We wanted to play pool initially but couldn't find the place so we played at the arcade for quite awhile. Me and Yilin played 2 rounds of dance dance revolution while Caspar fell asleep waiting and Sherry and Jiten were bored waiting.

Sooo.. I'll blog about Pre U Sem itself another day la. Haha.

6 MORE DAYS! :D

PRE UNIVERSITY SEMINAR IS OVAH!

And that's everyone's favourite director... MARK WOO! And his assistant director, me. Hah (he does that a lot by the way, I just copied him).

Yes it's finally over. No more long-drawn out rehearsals, memorising lines, missing lessons, ever changing script and the et cetera. Our presentation went really really well, and I think my self confidence has been given a slight boost. :D

Today's our celebration poolside party graciously catered by our teacher-in-charge, Mrs Christine Koh. She's been more of a mother to us, sms-ing us 'i-love-you's and 'i-miss-you's. For that, me and yilin are gonna get her a giant sunflower. Miss Leow too.

I miss my seminar group like crazy. We weren't exactly the most united bunch of the lot, but damn, I miss them. I'll blog about it tonight or tomorrow. Till then.....

1 MORE WEEK TILL ENGLAND! RARRRRRRR.
